Extra:

1999 - It came out that Beltre was younger than the Dodgers had listed him. His agent, Scott Boras, had Major League Baseball review the case and after a lengthy investigation, they determined that the Dodgers signed Beltre when he was 15 (The signing age for international amateurs is 16). The Dodgers were banned from signing any Dominican-born amateur free agents for a year, their Dominican academy  shut down for a year, they were fined $50,000, and the scout who signed Beltre, Pablo Peguero, and the Dodgers' head of Dominican operations, Ralph Avila, served one-year suspensions.

Beltre is the all time hit leader among Dominican players.

2009 - He is known to not play with a protective cup. In 2009 he was hit in the crotch with a ball and ended up on the 15-day with bleeding in his testicle.

2017 - Umpire Joe West was suspended 3 games for comments he made about Beltre. He said that Beltre was the biggest complainer in the league and, "Every pitch you call that's a strike, he says, "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!' I had a game with him recently and the pitch was right down the middle. He tells me, "That ball is outside... I told him, 'You may be a great ballplayer, but you're the worst umpire in the league. You stink.''
