His wife Erika was a weekend anchor and reporter for KTVK-TV and the pair were co-hosts of the weekend pre-game shows prior to Arizona Diamondbacks telecasts on 3TV in 2007.

His ex-wife Michelle Johnson was an actress. They divorced in 2002. He best known role was  Jennifer Lyons in the 1984 romantic comedy film 'Blame It on Rio' where she was Michael Caine's love interest.

Scouted by Al Rosen.

1986 - Drafted by the San Francisco Giants (3rd overall).

1987 - April 11th - Major League debut with the San Francisco Giants.

1994 - 2nd place in the voting for the NL MVP Award (lost to Jeff Bagwell). 

2003 - May 31st - Last MLB game with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Coaching Career:

 

2007 - Interim Manager of Mobile Baybears (Diamondbacks organization)
 
2010 - First Base Coach - Arizona Diamondbacks 

2011-2013 - Third Base Coach with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

2013 - After the season he was hired as the Washington Nationals' manager (replaced Davey Johnson). 

2014 - National League Manager of the Year.

2015 - Fired by the Nationals after failing to make the playoffs depite being favored to win the World Series. 

2017 - Hired as the Oakland Athletics Third Base Coach.

2007 - The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Williams purchased $11,600 worth of PEDs from the Palm Beach clinic in 2002. Later that year he was named in the Mitchell Report.

He Played in 3 World Series with 3 different teams (Giants, 1989; Indians, 1997; Diamondbacks, 2001).

 

2005-2009 - Was a member of the Diamondbacks broadcast team from, serving as a color analyst on select broadcasts on FOX Sports Arizona and Sports 620 KTAR. .
