He and his wife Kristin split up in the 1990’s but have since got back together.

​

Aaron Boone and him have been friends for years. He knows their whole family including Aaron Boone’s father Bob.

Playing Career:

​

1995 - June 11th - Major League debut with the Houston Astros.

​

Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, Anaheim Angels, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins.

​

2006 - September 29th - Last game in the MLB (Minnesota Twins).

​

The Astros were urged to pick Derek Jeter in the draft but chose Nevin instead.

​

1993 - During game with the Tucson Toros he was taunted by a man seated in the front row. He attempted to jump into the stands to confront the fan before he was restrained by teammates.

​

After the incident he said about hecklers, “You hear them, but you can't acknowledge them. The worst thing you can do is turn around and look at them."
 

In his first two seasons in the minors he had 61 errors.

​

1995 - July 5 in Colorado, Nevin cursed at Watson and Astros manager Terry Collins after being sent down to the minors (he was batting .117 in 18 games with the Astros).

​

2004 - While playing with San Diego he hit a double that may have been a home run in other parks; he was angry about this for some reason and Nevin threw his helmet and pointed at General Manager Kevin Towers. After the game he got in an argument with Towers. His job was given to someone else within a few days and the team tried to trade him. He blocked a trade to Baltimore but was eventually shipped to Texas.

Coaching Career:

 

2008 - Orange County Flyers in the independent Golden Baseball League (GBL). The Flyers finished with a 37–39 record in his first season.
