2012 - Drafted by the Oakland Athletics (25th round).

 

2015 - Traded from the Athletics (with John Jaso, and Daniel Robertson) to the Tampa Bay Rays for Ben Zobrist and Yunel Escobar.

 

2015 - After the season he was traded from the Rays (with Nate Karns, and C. J. Riefenhauser) to the Seattle Mariners for Brad Miller, Logan Morrison, and Danny Farquhar.

 

2017 - April 29th - Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners.

2013 - Powell was suspended 50 games after testing positive for an amphetamine.

 

2016 - He was suspended (again) 80-games for a positive test for banned substances.

 

2017 - Traded from the Mariners to the Oakland Athletics for Yonder Alonso.
