2015 - October 10 - During the the 2015 National League Division Series while running from 1st to 2nd. Utley slid into Rubén Tejada (New York Mets) in an attempt to break up the double play. He fractured Tejada's fibula. He was ruled safe and the Dodgers came back from 2-1 to win 5-2. The MLB suspended him for 2 games for the collision (later dropped). This incident resulted in the MLB changing the rules around breaking up plays.
He and his wife are involved in numerous rescue dog charities and are particularly fond of pit bulls.
2010 - He had a cameo on the show 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' in the episode "The Gang Gets Stranded in the Woods".
His favorite player growing up was Jim Thome.
In college his favorite player was Shawn Green.
As a child he would attend Blair Field to watch the Long Beach State baseball team.
