2014 - Davis was suspended for 25 games for testing positive for amphetamine. Davis claimed he tested positive due to the use of Adderall, for which he previously had a "therapeutic use exemption". Davis' suspension covered the final 17 games of the 2014 regular season and the seven games the Orioles played in the 2014 postseason.

Attended  First Baptist Church in Longview as a child but didn't return to the religion until 2010.

While playing for Texas Davis was a big drinker. An article about him at the time described his routine as, “ballpark, bar, bed; ballpark, bar, bed”. Former Josh Hamilton (who had publicized battles with drug and alcohol addiction)became a mentor to Davis.
