He said in an interview in 2018 that Marcus Thames is his best friend in baseball.

2002 - Drafted by the Detroit Tigers (3rd round).


2004 - September 13th - Major League debut with the Detroit Tigers.

 

2007 - Joined the 20-20-20 club.

 

2008 - Signed a 5-year contract with the Tigers ($30.25 million).


2009 - After the season traded from Detroit to The Yankees in a three-team trade (with Arizona). Phil Coke and Austin Jackson went to Detroit. The Arizona Diamondbacks received Ian Kennedy Edwin Jackson. The Tigers also received Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth.


2013 - After the season signed a 4-year contract with the New York Mets ($60 million).

 

2017 - Traded from the Mets to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later (Jacob Rhame).

 

2018 - Signed a 1-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays ($5 million).
