2001 - Traded from the Texas Rangers (with Rubén Mateo) to the Cincinnati Reds for Rob Bell.

2005 - June 24th - Major League debut with the Cincinnati Reds.

2009 - Traded from the Red (with Josh Roenicke and Zach Stewart) to the Toronto Blue Jays for Scott Rolen.

2017 - Signed a 3-year contract with Cleveland ($60 million). The contract was almost the exact that the Blue Jays had offered to him before Cleveland.

2010 - Encarnacion suffered first- and second-degree burns in the forehead and the right side of his face when a rocket firecracker hit him in the jaw and exploded near his mouth while celebrating with family in his home of La Romana. One of his brothers lit a rocket firecracker

 

2016 - A woman sued him for $11.5 million for knowingly gave her STDs in Punta Cana.
