His father is a lawyer who played in the 1976 Little League World Series.

He has the same birthday as his son and also played for UConn.

 

His mother, Laura is a former gymnast and she taught George how to back-flip.

 

His sister Nicole played softball at the University of Hartford. She now works for the New Britain Bees baseball team.

 

His other sister Lena played softball at Ethel Walker private school.

 

He attended an all-boys school and his sisters attended an all-girls school.

 

His grandfather pitched for four years at Teachers College of Connecticut.

 

His grandmother, Gerri Brown-Springer, was the principal of Slade Middle School.

2008 - Drafted by the Minnesota Twins (48th round) but he did not sign.

 

2009 - Played for the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL)

 

2011 - Drafted by the Houston Astros (11th overall).

 

2014 - April 16th - Major League debut with the Houston Astros.

 

2017 - Won the World Series with the Houston Astros.

Had a stutter as a child. He is now the spokesman for the Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY) Foundation in Houston

 

He was a Red Sox fan growing up and his little team was the Yankees (did not enjoy wearing the jerseys).

 

He used to watch New Britain Rock Cats, the Double A affiliate of the Twins, games as a child.
