Prior to 2001 - Played for the Orix Blue Wave of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in Japan.

2001 - Signed by the Seattle Mariners.

 

2001 - AL Rookie of the Year and AL MVP (at 28 years old).

 

2001 - Despite the team going 116–46 the Mariners lost the ALCS to the New York Yankees in 5 games.

 

2012 - Traded from the Mariners to the New York Yankees for D. J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar.

 

2015 - Signed a 1-year contract with the Miami Marlins ($2 million).

 

2018 - Signed a 1-year contract with the Seattle Mariners.
