His father played in the MLB (a Seattle Mariner when Michael was born). He was also a hitting coach in the Mets and Blue Jays organizations. He (Mickey) grew up in Catskill (New York).

His cousin Justin used to be in Cleveland’s system.

His grandfather was a foundry worker.

He married his wife on November 17, 2012.

School:  

Played in Southwestern Port St. Lucie Little League Baseball.

Signed a letter of intent to attend the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Baseball Related:

2005 - Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers (205th overall).

2008 - Traded from the Brewers to Cleveland (he was ‘the player to be named later’ from a previous trade).

 

2009 - September 1st - Major League debut with the Cleveland Indians.

 

2014 - Signed a 4-year contract with Cleveland ($25 million).

Extra:

In the early 1980s, Mike Tyson’s trainer brought him to upstate New York to keep him out of the trouble in Brooklyn and he lived with Michael’s grandparents. Mike Tyson was a teenager at the time.
