2005 - Drafted by the Washington Nationals (4th overall).


2005 - September 1st - Major League debut with the Washington Nationals.

2006 - Finished 2nd in the NL Rookie of the Year voting (Hanley Ramírez won).

2009 - Signed a 5-year contract with the Nationals ($45 million).

2012 - Signed a 6-year contract extention with the Nationals ($100 million).

2016 - Zimmerman sued news agency Al Jazeera for defamation after they release a documentary called, "The Dark Side: Secrets of the Sports Dopers". The documentary linked Zimmerman (and others) to a clinic that distributed PEDs.


2017 - His high school coach (St Clair Jones) was suspended for “concerns brought forward regarding practices and player discipline.”
