1986 - Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates (134th overall) but did not sign.
1988 - Played for the US Olympic Team in Seoul.

1989 - Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers (22nd overall).
​
1991 - September 1st - Major League debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Played with the Los Angeles Dodger, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs.

2004 - September 30th - Last MLB game with the Chicago Cubs.
Coaching Career:

2007 - Managed the Lewisville (Texas) Lizards of the independent Continental Baseball League.

Also coach for the Lowell Spinners, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
2011 - Named the first base coach for the Mets (replaced Mookie Wilson).
2015 - Lost a World Series with the New York Mets against the Kansas City Royals.
2017 - Returned to the Boston Red Sox organization as the Red Sox first base coach.
