2011 - Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks (3rd overall).
2012 - June 28th - Major League debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
2012 - Traded from the Diamondbacks (with Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw) to the Cleveland Indians in a three team deal (Cincinnati Reds). The deal included Didi Gregorius, Tony Sipp, Lars Anderson, Drew Stubbs, Shin-Soo Choo and Jason Donald.

In elementary school Bauer was teased by classmates because he wore baseball pants instead of jeans. In high school he was teased by teammates because he carried a six-foot plastic shoulder tube that loosened his arm.

He has been interviewed saying that he modeled his pitching delivery after Tim Lincecum.

Bauer is a "drone hobbyist".

2016 - He injured his hand while repairing a drone. The injury forced him to be pushed back in the AL Championship Game versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Reno Aces (Bauer previous played for) gave out a bobblehead of him throwing a drone at a game in 2017.

He reported his drone stolen from Clague Park (Cleveland suburb) on September 25, 2017 (the drone was called "Iron Man").

2018 - Bauer tweeted out that there seemed to be something off with the spin rate of the Astros' rotation. Houston player Alex Bregman responded to him saying "Relax Tyler". Shortly after Bauer added the name Tyler to his jersey while playing at Houston's Minute Maid park (see picture).
